Okay, this has nothing to do with search engine optimization, but I wanted to demonstrate how to insert an audio link into a WordPress blog. So, here are the steps to create a simple link like this one >>Pre-Recorded Message<<.

Step 1. Upload the file to your “uploads” directory. I prefer to use CoreFTP, a free FTP program, but you can also upload through the WordPress admin. For the sake of simplicity, I will assume you have already uploaded the file into your “uploads” folder. If you don’t have an uploads folder, create one. For most hosting providers the uploads folder should be located in “/public_html/wp-content/”.

Step 2. Click on the little music note icon. when you hover over it, it should say “Add Audio”. It will open a box which gives you two methods, One is to upload it from your computer (works great if you already have the uploads folder created), the other is to create a link to the file.

Since I uploaded it using CoreFTP, I will enter this into the field named “Audio File URL” http://www.mydomain.com/public_html/wp-content/uploads/filename.mp3. Now give it a Title, for example “Pre-Recorded Message” or “Obama decides not to tax the wealthiest 1 percent” or “Grandpa playing the harmonica” or whatever you want the clickable link to say. For SEO purposes, you should give it a title relevant to what your WordPress blog post is about.

That’s all there is to it!
